Joining the right affiliate programs

Affiliate programs are an easy way to find things to sell online. The only problem with affiliate programs is that you’ve got to be one of those people who could sell prime rib to a vegetarian. There are a lot of different programs out there, that make it a little easier for companies and sellers to come together. This is a list of a few of my favorite affiliate programs around the web.

My favorite affiliate site of all time is LinkShare.com. I think the reason I like this site the best is that it’s easy to create links to their current promotions, as well as creating links to individual products. Plus, they offer affiliations to some of the biggest stores, including Wal-Mart and Overstock.com.

Another good site is CommisionJunction.com. Again, this site offers affiliations to some top of the line stores and websites, and they make it easy to create textual links to promotions and individual items. They also try to give their affiliates a wide variety of banner links to add to their websites and blogs.

Now that Amazon.com sells more than just books, they’ve become a great affiliate program. You can now find everything from their normal books and music, but you can also sell items for the home and garden, as well as clothing and jewelry. The best part about Amazon.com is that they give you so many different options as to how to promote their products. If you’re not the kind of person who likes to write, you can choose from a wide range of other widgets that will do the selling for you.

One of the newer site online is called PepperJam.com. They’ve only been around for a few weeks, but they’re already gaining some great clients, including Sesame Street Store and Orange County Choppers. My only problem with this site so far is that I haven’t figured out how to link to individual items. I’m not saying that it isn’t possible, I just haven’t figured it out.

My final site for this post is NeverBlueAds. This is one of the better affiliate programs that I’ve been associated with. They have a lot of companies that they work with, and offer several ways to promote these companies. One thing you want to take note of is the fact that they will call you and do a telephone interview with you before they decide whether or not to accept you into their program.

Of course, this is a very short list. There are tons of affiliate programs out there, these are just a few of my personal favorites. Not all affiliate programs are worth the time it takes to sign up. Some are nothing more than a way for get rich quick artists to work their magic, while others out there are simply made for one or two companies.

The easiest way to figure out which sites are best for you is to check them out for yourself and see what all they have to offer. What works for one webmaster, may not work for the next. Only you know what’s right for you and your site.
