We’ve all searched through the masses of classified ads in our local newspapers, but have you ever checked out some of the free online classified ads sites? There are quite a few classified ad sites out there, but ironically, not as many as you’d think. When I went looking for these sites, I found that I kept coming up with the same sites over and over.

Classified ads sites are a great way to get rid of some of your old things you’ve got hidden in cupboards and closets. Just like a regular newspaper, you can sell everything from cars to furniture to collectibles. The best part is that unlike your local newspaper, most of these sites allow you to post free classified ads.

One of my favorite sites is simply called ClassifiedAds.com. This site is beautifully designed and makes it easy to find anything you might be in the market to buy. Not wanting to say things about the site that weren’t true, I decided to check it out a bit and get some details. First of all, this site is totally free. You can ad a post with pictures, edit your post at any time, and even reply to anyone wanting to buy your stuff, all at no cost.

The only thing you have to do with this site is sign up for an account, which is also free. After that, you can post away. According to the TOS, members are allowed up to 5 pictures per ad and can delete them at any time in order to add others. Once you’ve uploaded your first ad, it will be listed in the appropriate category as well as in search listings. However, your ad won’t show up right away as it will still need to go through a quick approval process. If any ad is deemed to be illegal or violates the TOS in any way, it will be removed from the site by the staff.

Another thing I found interesting about this site, is that they offer a list of ways to prevent yourself from being scammed. Though most of the things on the list are common knowledge, there were a couple that I’d never heard of, such as watching out for phony escrow services. The fact that they took the time to set this page up, impressed me enough to want to come back in the future.

If you’re thinking of selling your things online via a classified ads site, I recommend you check out ClassifiedAds.com a little more. Of course, you’ll want to do some more research on your own, but when I decide to get rid of a few things out there, I’ll be putting them up on this site.
