Save Money On Domain Names
Written by Christine Senter on March 31st, 2008Ok, so you’re about to dive in head first into the wonderful world of blogging. So what’s first? Ideas? Ways of earning money? Nope, first you need to get your self a domain name. Depending on your finances, you’ll probably be looking for cheap domain names. The best place to look, in my opinion, is GoDaddy.com.
Of course, you can go the traditional route of trying to come up with a great name, and hope that someone else hasn’t already taken it, or you can check out the domain name auctions and see what you can pick up there. Now, that being said, I must say that if you’re going to do a blog about the fashion industry, you don’t want to look at auction names about fishing boats.
The only problem with domain name auctions is that sometimes the bidding can get into the thousands of dollars, and that pretty much defeats the purpose. However, GoDaddy has a section that I absolutely adore. They have a clearance section. That’s right, GoDaddy.com has a whole section of domain names that have expired, and they’re all priced at $5, plus registration fees. Not bad.
Now, this is probably just me, but I like running through the list of expired names, just to see what’s out there. Some of them are names that I’d never use in a hundred years, but every once in a while, I come across a name that jumps out at me. At a flat rate of $5, I just can’t help myself. If you do decide to go this route, go through the list before you decide on what you want to blog about. You might find a domain name that stands out at you, and may take you in a whole new direction. In fact, at the time of this posting, the domain name topfashioncloset.com is up for sale. I listed that name because it jumped out at me, and I can see potential in that name.
Getting into the blogging game is a lot of fun, and a lot of work. You won’t be famous over night, and you won’t make a gazillion dollars in your first week. But, if you work hard, market yourself correctly, and purchase an amazing domain name, you’ll definitely be on your way.
