Save money with Wal-Mart gift cards

Throughout the year, my family and I receive Wal-Mart Gift Cards. My kids usually get them for Christmas or birthdays, while my husband’s company gives them out for incentives and holidays. By the end of the year, we’ve got several cards with only small amounts of money on them. However, several cards with only small amounts of money can add up pretty fast.

Most Wal-Marts now have the do-it-yourself checkstands. This is a great way to use up all those cards in one swoop. Simply scan your items, and begin running your cards through. As each card reaches it’s max, you swipe the next card. Now, I don’t know about all Wal-Marts, but around here most people don’t use these checkouts. Which means no long lines of angry patrons waiting behind you.

Wal-Mart gift cards make great gifts for nearly everyone, but they are also a smart investment. For most of us average people, there are times when we’ve got a little extra cash, and times when cash is scarce. When you’ve got a little extra, buy a few gift card just to have on hand. Then, when things are a little tight, you’ve got back up.
