Ways to sell your old stuff online

Spring is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about doing a little spring cleaning. You might find that you’ve got boxes and boxes of things that you could take to the dump or give away, but some of that stuff might bring in a little extra cash if you were to sell it online.

There are hundreds of sites online where you can sell your unwanted items. Almost everyone has tried to sell via online auctions, but there are other ways in which to sell you things. One such idea is by listing your items on Internet classified ad sites. Most sites offer free listings, but there are a few that require a paid subscription.

Another idea is to create your own store front through an online auction site, or maybe with an Internet mall. Though this gets you a lot more exposure to potential customers, it usually comes with a monthly fee to keep the store open. If you’re not making any sales, it’s hard to pay the rent.

A somewhat different approach is to have an online garage sale. This is simply a webpage or website, where you take your own pictures, write up your own descriptions, and do your own advertising. You can purchase software that will help you build an online store, or if you have a paypal account, you can accept payments right from your site.

Finally, you might try checking out some of the online swap meets. This is a great way to unload some of the things you don’t need anymore, for something you’ve always wanted. Online swap meets offer everything from jewelry to professional and personal services. Though some of these sites require a membership fee, there are a few free ones.

When it comes time to downsize in your home, it’s a good feeling to know that you can make a few bucks from your efforts. Remember, one homes’ junk is another home’s treasure.

Awesome job with helping people figure out where to start with selling their junk , er.. wonderful stuff online! I have tons to sell and this kinda inspires me to get off my but and head for the attic and start pulling out things that I have had up there for years.

    Thanks Garry,

I watch a lot of those “clean out your house” shows, and am quickly realizing that I’m not the only pack rat in town. LOL

    And thanks to you, Chris

I hope you come back again and again, and tell your friends to stop by as well.

Good job done here. I want to add that although most free classified ads seems free but to use others feature like adding links, images, etc.. to your ads you need to pay thus it is always wise to read their tos before posting.

    Absolutely,

Always a site’s TOS before posting anything. I totally agree.
